2008 Summer Horse Riding Camp registration begins! |
 MCC will
again be holding it Summer Horse Riding Camp! The camp
will be held July 28-31 from 9:00 - 12:30. The deadline
to register in June 30th, and the camp is limited to 8
students. Registration is a first come first service
basis, so don't delay in getting registered! The
registration fee is $125. For more information contact

5/09/08 - Sarah
Woody receives a 6th place at the IHSA National Championship
Show!!!! |

Sarah Woody, a sophomore at MCC, received a 6th place in the
Open Reining at the IHSA National Championship Show, held at
the LA Equestrian Center in California, on May 8-11, 2008!
She Had a wonderful pattern and scored a 140, with the winner
of the class scoring a 145.5. She preformed wonderfully
and represented Martin Community College well!

MCC Western IHSA Team Sends A Rider to the
National Championship |
The western
IHSA team returned home from the Semi-Final Championship on
Sunday March 30th, 2008 full of smiles. Justin Eddins
had a great ride in the Beginner Walk Trot class, and
performed well, but did not qualify for nationals this year.
Sarah Woody also had a great ride in her Open Horsemanship
class, and performed well, but did not qualify for nationals
this year in this class. She did however receive a
Reserve Champion in her Open reining class, qualifying her for
the National Championship Show. The National
Championship Show will be held in California this year on May
8 through the 11th. |

03/16/08 - MCC Western IHSA Team ends up
Reserve Year End High Point Team!! |
MCC's Western
IHSA team was awarded Reserve Year End High Point Team for
2008 in Zone 4 Region 3. Please congratulate the team
members on their accomplishment.
MCC's very own Sarah Woody was awarded Reserve Year End
High Point Rider for 2008 in Zone 4 Region 3. Please
congratulate her on this wonderful achievement. |

02/19/08 - 2008 MCC's Foundation Horse
Auction |
The
Martin Community College Foundation will host its 2008 HORSE
AUCTION on April 5th, 2008 at the Equine Arena in Williamston,
North Carolina.
This is a excellent opportunity to purchase Broodmares and
Riding Horses that have been used in the college's Equine
Technology Program. The sale will feature Morgans,
Quarter Horses, Saddlebreds, and Grade horses.
The view / demonstration of horses will begin at 10:00am
with the sale starting at 11:00am. For more information,

Qualify For The Regional Competition |

MCC's IHSA western team now has three riders
qualified for the regional competition being held at Virginia
Tech on March 16th. This is a great achievement and we

02/17/08 - MCC's IHSA Western Team Returns
Home |

MCC's IHSA western team returns home from two
shows held at St. Andrews Presbyterian College on
February 16th & 17th with 207 points. The team is second
in the Year End High Point Standing!
Sarah Woody has 83 year end points in
currently in second place for the AQHA High Point Standing!
On the 16th the team came in 3rd place High
Point Team, and Sarah Woody was Reserve High Point Rider!

MCC

MCC's IHSA Western
Team currently stands in second place for our region and zone
with 81 points.
Sarah Woody is currently the reserve high point rider.

When: Saturday, November 10th 2007
Time: Show starts @ 8 a.m.
Where: Martin Arena at the MCC Equine Facility
We will again be having a variety of classes in many
divisions
including English, Jumping, Western Pleasure, Working Western and
Games. Classes will include Walk/Trot/Canter and Walk/Trot,
Reining for Fun and Barrels.
Concessions will be provided and there will be plenty of Hi-Point
awards to give away. Come
show with us in November!

When: First Day of the Semester - Monday,
August 20th
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Where: On Campus (Specific Location To Be
Announced)
Remember, this orientation is mandatory for all new and returning Equine students!
The Equine Department
will be hosting an orientation
mixer for all new and returning Equine students on Monday, August 20th.
Attendance is mandatory for this occasion as we will be
discussing
policies and procedures for our program and making sure you have all
necessary paperwork on file in the Equine Department. The
purpose of
this mixer is also for you to get an opportunity to meet and greet your
peers and the faculty. Dinner will be provided, so come join
us for
the mixer!

The beginning of a new
year is not far off with late registration starting August 16th.
If you registered back in June, please remember that the last
day to pay your tuition and fees is August 8th.
New students, you may want to double
check that you have everything on your equipment
list. Also, if you are still looking for housing or
a room mate, check the "Barn Board"
forum for updates.
For those of you planning on bringing
your horse with you to college, please reserve your spot (by deposit)
by the last day of July. New horses arriving on campus will
need to have a coggins within the last 11 months, deworming with the
last two months and vaccinations (EEE, WEE, Flu, West Nile) within the
last six months. Also, please remember to schedule an arrival
date and time with the Facility Manager. See our boarding

site administration has been working hard over the
summer on improving this site's design and content. The
following
updates (and more) have taken place:
- The Barn
Cam now has it's own page (though it will not be up again until spring).
- There
is an entrance page for prospective/entering students updated with
important information for students planning on attending.
- There is
now a page explaining the horse donation process.
- Many of
the pages have been updated with more current/relevant information and
pictures.
- Our
sponsors now have their own pages.
- The
contacts page has been updated with information on more local equine
professionals that work with the college.
- The
events calendar is now much easier to navigate.
- Our store
is now open.
We
hope the site is easier to navigate and contains more concise and
easy-to-find information. We also hope you enjoy the new home
