Tami Thurston


Tami Thurston - Equine Technology Director

   Tami Thurston came to the Martin Community College Equine program in the summer of 2006.  She holds two bachelor's degrees from the University of Findlay and is working towards her master's degree.

   Mrs. Thurston has been passionate about horses from a young age and has since competed on a national level either winning or placing at events including the Quarter Horse Congress, World Show and national futurities.  She is married to trainer, Paul Thurston, who has had a World Champion and several winners and top ten placers at the Congress.

Kimberly Kane - Equine Instructor & IHSA Coach



     Kimberly Kane came to the Martin Community College Equine program during the fall of 2006.  She graduated from the highly accredited University of Findlay with a B.S. in Western Equestrian Studies and a B.S. in Equine Business Management.  She brings a wealth of knowledge to our program stemming from nearly 20 years of experience in the horse industry.  Ms. Kane’s focus is in western & english riding, although she possesses experience in all facets of the equine industry. 

     Ms. Kane has held several National titles within the Appaloosa Horse Club, is certified in Equine Reproduction from N.C.S.U. and currently holds an open horse show judge's card.  In addition, she serves as our International Horse Show Association (I.H.S.A.) coach.  Ms. Kane's experience and training will substantially benefit all Equestrian students at Martin Community College. 

       
  Ashley Woods - Equine Facility Manager  

 
     Ashley Woods came to the Martin Community College Equine program in the Spring of 2008. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Equine Business Management and Western Equestrian Studies from the University of Findlay in Ohio.

   Ms. Woods has been riding horses since the age of 4. She has won and placed in various classes such as Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Horsemanship and Equitation on her Quarter Horse at open shows. She has also coached 4H members and her own lesson clients to wins at different horse shows in Ohio. Her wide variety of knowledge and experience in riding different disciplines adds to the integrity of the Equine program.
